1970 Triumph Bonneville Wiring Diagram – The VIN is PD33479T120R. It is a single carbohydrate. It has been sitting in storage since 2000. The machine is free. My friend and I swallowed about 40 feet of grass over my head in 100 degree Kansas. After removing the seat and fuel tank, I found that it had bent wires, so I needed a wiring diagram first. Went to your forum and the classicbikebiz link has a guide with lots of good info and wiring diagrams but it’s secure and I can’t print it. Does anyone have this pdf file that they can send me so I can print it? I went to the big D link and they have a chapter book that I printed out. This must be my older brother’s 71,500 bike! Is it a TR6 Tiger or a T120R Bonneville? They are different. Bonneville Instructor VIN, built in November 1970.

The workshop manual for my ’72 TR6R shows no differences between the two (modified) in terms of wiring (Tiger vs Bonneville and I know things can change at the factory) 0

The main difference between the models is that the Bonneville T120R has two smaller gas cylinders and can have triple bottom bolts for a “locked” steering with a smaller tank. It is not positive for the T120 on the triple screw, but it is used on the TR6C model with a smaller tank. If it had a single carb head, someone would have changed it to make things easier. Not a bad idea, but Bonnevilles have gone up in price now. But as far as “riders” go, a single carb works fine. The wiring diagrams for the TR6R and Bonneville should be the same for the 1970s, but there are some differences between the ’72 models: the turn signal is the first thing to see.

The best wiring diagram for the ’70 that I can find is in the back of the owner’s manual (use the US version). You have a T120Rek and if the frame numbers match you have a Bonneville, not a TR6. Someone changed their mind.
In 1970, the TR6R and T120R used the same cable (it was also used on the lower 500 twin tubes). The only difference with the twin forks on the T120R is the way the TR/T120R is wired. The TR6C/T100C used different cables, as they also used different kill switches and lights.
Thanks for the quick reply guys. The winch is the same on the engine and frame and has only 1 carbon. I don’t know if there’s a different head, it has the head and 1 carb, and it’s a Mikuni, so it’s obviously out of stock. Also has front brakes, rear models, at least it looks like the picture I saw of the oil frame wheels. I am not an expert on these bikes. I think it’s a small tank, but it also has a steering wheel, so who knows what will change on it in the last 46 years! Thanks TJ for the link but I still can’t print the owner’s manual, I don’t know if it was me or they installed it so it won’t print. I think it is because I downloaded the PDF and it says “safe”. This may be a winter project for me, but my first step is to cut the wires straight so I can plug the battery in and see what works and what doesn’t, and see if I get a fire.

I posted an actual picture of the diagram. I think one number is for the UK (domestic) and the other for everyone else (exports). Not sure if anything is different. When I connected the wheels, I thought I was using an export diagram.
If you look at your light switch on your light bulb, you will see that there is a small number next to the terminal. Then look at the diagram, you will see the number on the switch in the diagram. Just line them up with the appropriate colored strings in your column. The wiring diagram is basically clean and leaves two grids. I only remember one of them and I think it was the oil pressure switch installed on the engine. Even in the original device, I don’t know which terminal to wire. However, in the end the decision is made and if you need help just ask. My bike had a full bag when I got it and there were no wires on it to see how it broke. If possible, take a picture of what you have before removing anything…..Gary
This is an old thread, you won’t get a reply and you may be reviving an old thread. Consider creating a new article. When Bonnie had 37 and 33,000 miles in 2006, her wiring showed some signs. That winter I covered the frame with flour and since I wanted to remove the wire I decided to replace it.
That year I purchased a $159 USD farm line from British Wiring in 2006. The new line was great – a perfect fit and worked flawlessly for about 10 years before the Lucas exhaust failed.
