**Graphing From Point-slope Form Worksheet** – I used this practice the first day after our cross-slope form test to get students thinking about equations and graphs.

This leads nicely into a discussion of gradient shapes and the realization that they are not as scary as they first appear when students recognize the similarities between gradient shapes.

Then we’ll look at examples of writing slope equations before doing things like what Sarah shared here. I didn’t have the big foam blocks like Sarah used, but I did have two blocks, which the students always think is fun. Students rolled the dice to form ordered pairs and wrote the equation in the form of dots on the line between the two dots. They then analyzed their responses using Desmos. Experimenting with Desmos is important to help students see what they are doing when writing a linear equation.

I modified the Desmos Marbleslides to rearrange the equation to look like what my students saw. My updated version can be found here.

Of the three sections of this section, this one takes the least amount of study time. Writing this post made me realize that I could probably use some of these ideas. If you have any suggestions for me, please share!

I used the Desmos card selector. Students draw a graph with three equations, one of which is the slope, the slope, and the constant.

## How To Teach Slope

I also added a loop function. The question is at the bottom of the work, the students answer and find the answer on another paper. This leads them to the next problem. There are 8 questions, and the last question returns the first paper they were on. I usually post multiple copies of events so there aren’t too many people in one story. If I add more questions, not all groups end up in the same class. I learned to do fewer quizzes and print 2-3 copies depending on how many students I have.
