I looked through some old posts and confirmed that my current seat has 2 pins instead of 4 pins and the seats I’m looking at are from 2008 so I know they are compatible in that regard.

However, I would like to double check what other steps are taken to make the seats work properly. Do I just need the wires to plug them in and start? Or do you need additional cables?

If there are extra wires, I’m a bit competent at it and can probably make it better myself. Does anyone have a manual or diagram for wiring the seats to the fuse box? I guess I just run wires to the main cab fuse box under the center console and connect it to a fuse that runs on the car. Would it be safe to connect both wires to the same fuse as the big amp fuse? Or do they need separate fuse locations?

Sorry for all the questions. I just want to make sure I fully understand what is needed before I take a seat and start planning the store.

So it looks like I’m routing the wires to the truck fuse box correctly? I have a lot of experience with wiring, even less with reading wiring diagrams, but it looks like there is already room for the heat and power seats and I should use them.

There are open holes in your fuse panel, but I’m not sure if they have connectors.

If you can’t find an existing terminal, you need to add a circuit. I don’t want to go to the back box to use the power just put it in the front. I would use power from the BCM fuse panel. That way, you don’t have to find a safe way from the trunk to the cabin; You’re already there, use a larger wire for heavy loads and if you think it’s too big, add insurance.

For heavy circuits, I recommend taping a larger wire from the fuse panel, soldering the same size wire, and connecting it to a new spare fuse box that you can install near the BCM. It’s hard in there, so if you want, put it in a bin for easy access. Then you connect the fuses and relays in the panel instead of hanging in the air or connecting to other circuits.

I bought the fuse panels from Dell City and have them from Add-A-Circuit or local auto parts depending on how soon I need them. Del City has good stuff at good prices. I like them. I also like to get wire and solder from them. and . . Well you get the point.

For example, to add power seats, all you need is a 30A fuse that always heats up, then plug a wire into the seat plug, ground the seat, and you’re done. The wire color may be the one you find on the set, but if not, trace the wire from the set connector to the “E” plug and Uncle Bob!

I don’t know if it would be as straightforward as I installed the seats since I had the 2LT with the power driver’s seat and both heated seats. On the driver’s side, all the wiring was ready, no repairs needed. Plug and play. On the passenger side, I had to connect the power cables to the motor, but the rest was already wired. I’m not sure if these threads exist. There were 2 large wires missing on the passenger side, I think they were on the upper left and lower right. There is also a small thread missing from the lower right corner. One that never took place. But you can look at that tower under the seat and see where all the wires are. If they are (except motor cables), you’re in good shape! If not, make sure you plug the heated seats into a circuit that closes with the car, otherwise you’ll drain the battery by leaving them on!

The picture quality isn’t great, but this picture was sent to me when I was relocating the garage because I accidentally left it at home… but those big red and black wires Missing if you have everything else.
